Job Description

Read Fort Worth’s Summer Scholars effort revolves around providing access to quality summer learning programs which are essential to providing young readers (Kindergarten through third grade) the reinforcement they need to grow in literacy skills over the summer and not lose ground.
The Literacy Guide will be paid as a contract employee of RFW. The major responsibilities are proctoring of Iowa reading assessment and providing constructive feedback regarding delivery of literacy best practices across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

Work 20 hours per week over a seven-week period (June 11-July 28, 2018).
Proctor the Iowa battery assessment at the beginning and end of the summer programs.
Must complete two mandatory training sessions (1-hour each) during the first week of June 2018.
Make sites visits to members of the 2018 cohort to provide on-site literacy support and coaching for program staff. Ideally, each Literacy Guide will visit (at least) three sites each on a rotation to be established by the 2018 Summer Scholars Project Manager through Read Fort Worth.
Communicate effectively with Summer Scholars program staff and Project Manager.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

Must be able to reliably travel to program sites across Fort Worth.
Must have no less of 60 hours of college credit, with no less than three years of classroom experience. Preference is given to current or retired certified Texas teachers.
Must have a strong literacy instruction background.
Ability to work independently across multiple site locations in a collaborative manner with students, parents, program staff, fellow Literacy Guides, and Project Manager.

Compensation

$25 per hour with 20-hour per week schedule. Mandatory training will be covered. A $20 stipend per week will also be provided for mileage.
