Family Engagement:

Parent University at Maudrie M. Walton Elementary

Hats off to Maudrie Walton Elementary School Principal Christina Hanson, Assistant Principal Aminah Geary, parents and members of the Rotary Club of Fort Worth for launching the school’s first-ever Parent University at the campus this spring.

Rotarians support the 5 p.m. sessions by providing child care, parent mentors and dinner for the dozen parents and family members who attend.

Parent University is a 13-week curriculum that teaches parents 40 developmental assets to help their children succeed. Manuel Jara Elementary Principal Marta Plata helped developed the program back in 2013. The course supports building stronger families by giving parents the confidence, tools and skills they need to raise healthy, caring and responsible children.
