PRESS RELEASE

QUOTES YOU CAN USE

Anel Mercado, Executive Director, Read Fort Worth: “Becoming a reading volunteer is rewarding and the positive impact on the volunteer and student is special. This effort supports ensuring that 100 percent of Fort Worth ISD third-graders are reading on grade level by 2025.”

Dr. Kent Scribner, Superintendent, Fort Worth ISD: “We know that not all children start the educational race at the same educational starting line. What we have is an opportunity gap – not an achievement gap. The strategic use of volunteers will support our comprehensive effort.”

Mayor Betsy Price, City of Fort Worth: Fort Worth has built a reputation as a big city with a small-town feel, one known for its thriving business, cultural, philanthropic and educational institutions. It’s time for us to focus on increasing excellence in our elementary schools and teaching all of our children to be confident readers early on. We need our community’s support.”
